About Us

Enlighten Me is an innovative, online medically supervised weight loss program that adopts a multidisciplinary approach to weight management. We address the underlying factors contributing to our patients’ weight issues while helping them embark on their weight loss journey and supporting the implementation of new, healthy lifestyle habits. Our team comprises a General Practitioner, Exercise Physiologist, Nutritionist, and two Administrative Assistants, all dedicated to providing comprehensive care through video and phone Telehealth services.

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated GP to join our Enlighten Me team.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping patients achieve sustainable weight loss, be proficient in Telehealth services, and have experience managing patients with complex health issues such as insulin resistance. You will play a crucial role in supporting our patients, predominantly women in their 40s to 60s, located in New South Wales, who are juggling multiple demands and seeking effective, stigma-free weight management solutions.

Key Responsibilities

– Provide Telehealth consultations for patients enrolled in the Enlighten Me program with a compassionate and supportive approach.

– Conduct comprehensive assessments to develop personalised weight management plans addressing underlying health factors, including insulin resistance.

– Manage and monitor patients with common women’s health issues, such as insulin resistance related to polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and perimenopause.

– Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team (General Practitioner, Exercise Physiologist, Nutritionist, and Administrative Assistants) to ensure cohesive patient care.

– Offer empathetic support and guidance to patients, helping them navigate the plethora of weight loss information and implement sustainable lifestyle changes.

– Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with relevant healthcare regulations.

– Participate in regular team meetings to discuss patient progress and share insights for continuous program improvement.

– Stay updated with the latest research and developments in weight management and Telehealth practices.

– Work independently with minimal supervision once trained, and adapt quickly to new technology.

Qualifications

– Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with current registration to practise in Australia.

– Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) is preferred.

– Special interest and experience in weight management.

– Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident.

– General Registration with AHPRA and able to obtain a provider number to facilitate pathology testing.

– Valid medical indemnity insurance including cover for Telehealth.

– Evidence of further education and training, such as SCOPE Certification, is a bonus.

– Experience with common women’s health issues, particularly in managing insulin resistance related to PCOS and perimenopause, is advantageous.

– Proficiency in Telehealth consultations and digital health platforms, such as Zoom, G-Suite and Halaxy.

– Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to build rapport with patients remotely.

– A compassionate and non-judgmental approach to patient care, with a focus on reducing stigma and discrimination associated with weight.

– Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

– Excellent organisational and time management skills.

Preferred Attributes

– Understanding of the unique challenges faced by women in their 40s to 60s, particularly those balancing work and caring responsibilities.

– Enthusiastic about promoting a holistic approach to weight loss, integrating medical, nutritional, and physical activity perspectives.

– A qualified GP with special interest in weight loss is preferred, however we will also consider applicants who fit all of the other criteria but do not yet have GP Fellowship, e.g. GP Registrar, Career Medical Officer.

What We Offer

– Flexible working hours, all work is remote. Our head office is located in Chatswood, NSW however all of your consultations can be conducted via video and phone.

– Initially, 5 hours per week, with room for growth. Hourly rate of $95 (non-GP) to $130 (GP with weight management qualifications) or 60% of billings, paid to your ABN.
We book 20 minute consultations within 30 minute blocks, with a private fee of $150.

  • You do not yet have rights to work in Australia, such as requiring sponsorship.
  • You are looking for short term work. We are looking for applicants who will grow with our organisation and have a vision of continuity of care for our patients.
  • Your style of practice is fast medicine. We prefer applicants who are ready to provide a thorough, comprehensive approach.
  • You do not yet have the confidence or experience to provide Telehealth, where a certain degree of familiarisation with technology, independence and ability to think on your feet and make judgement calls is required.
